Tried something more advanced - crocheted the mane and tail instead of attaching yarn directly on the pony. Quite happy about the result 
. Perhaps I would've wanted less white in the mane, though from this angle it looks a lot more, since the light blue/turquoise part of the mane is stretching over the back of her head and neck. Also the colours don't show that well on this picture, the difference between body and mane/tail is actually quite suitable imo.

I think it works. MLP manes at rest tend to look like solid masses, so making them entirely crocheted makes sense ... at least to me.
